Well Balanced Kids Field Trips

Well Balanced Kids™ is a free field trip designed to reinforce the healthy curriculum taught in schools. Field trips are hosted exclusively at the Family Fresh Market stores in Hudson and New Richmond, WI. Our trained tour leader modifies the field trips to be grade appropriate. The field trips are 60-90 minutes in length and are limited to 30 participants per tour.

Well Balanced Kids helps children in grades Pre-K – 6 develop and enhance skills in:

  • The USDA food pyramid
  • Well balanced living and nutrition
  • Meal planning
  • Recycling activities
  • Food Safety

What can I expect on the tour?

Kids will walk the aisles with nutritionist Mary Jo Brunner, stopping at each department to learn how it relates to the food groups in MyPyramid. Kids will get to taste a variety of nutritious foods as they learn what nutrients and foods are important for healthy living and strong growing bodies. Mary Jo reinforces the importance of play and physical activity and encourages kids to get involved with meal planning at home. Kids will have the opportunity to ask questions all along the tour and will receive a goodie bag at the end of the tour.
