Family Fresh Market and our parent company, SpartanNash, are committed to giving back to our local communities. Together with our store guests and the SpartanNash Foundation – our company’s charitable giving arm – we support local organizations that provide hunger relief, secure shelter and support our military heroes through a series of retail fundraising scan campaigns.

Starting May 1, the SpartanNash Foundation invites store guests to join us in supporting more than 10,000 Special Olympics athletes and State Summer Games in Iowa, Michigan, Minnesota, Nebraska, North Dakota, Ohio, South Dakota and Wisconsin.

The SpartanNash Foundation’s fundraising effort for Special Olympics will run May 1-12. During that time, store guests who visit any of our Family Fresh Market stores will have the opportunity to donate $1, $5 or $10 at any checkout lane – and 100 percent of all funds raised go directly to our Special Olympics partners and the athletes who participate in training and athletic competition.

The mission of Special Olympics is to provide year-round sports training and athletic competition in a variety of Olympic-type sports for children and adults with intellectual disabilities, giving them continuing opportunities to develop physical fitness, demonstrate courage, experience joy and participate in a sharing of gifts, skills and friendship with their families, other Special Olympics athletes and the community.

Last year, through the generosity and support of our store guests, associates and the SpartanNash Foundation, $286,500 was granted to Special Olympics affiliates in eight states. These funds support athletic training for the athletes, as well as State Summer Games in the states we serve.

For 2019, SpartanNash is recognizing Healthy Athletes in Michigan and Wisconsin. These athletes will be featured on Our Family® brand water packaging throughout the summer.
