Ingredients

  • 1 lb. ground beef or turkey
  • 1 medium onion, chopped
  • 1 green bell pepper, chopped
  • 1 stalk celery, chopped
  • 3/4 cup ketchup
  • 1 tbsp. sugar
  • 1 tbsp. yellow mustard
  • 1 tbsp. white vinegar
  • 6 to 8 hamburger buns

  1. In a large skillet cook and stir beef, onion, bell pepper and celery over medium-high heat until meat is browned and vegetables are tender; drain.
  2. Add ketchup, sugar, mustard and vinegar to skillet; stir to combine. Bring to boiling; reduce heat. Cover beef mixture and simmer 45 minutes, adding water if necessary. Season to taste with salt and pepper. Spoon beef mixture onto hamburger buns, and serve.
