Ingredients

  • 3 cups fresh berries (raspberries, blueberries, blackberries, and/or sliced strawberries)
  • 1/4 cup powdered sugar
  • 3 tsp. grated orange peel, divided
  • 2 tbsp. fresh orange juice
  • 1/8 tsp. nutmeg
  • 1/2 cup sour cream
  • 2 tbsp. brown sugar
  • 6 slices angel food or pound cake (optional)?

  1. In a medium bowl combine berries, powdered sugar, 2 teaspoons of the orange peel plus orange juice and nutmeg; toss lightly. Cover and refrigerate at least 30 minutes, up to 2 hours.
  2. Meanwhile, in a small bowl combine sour cream, brown sugar and remaining 1 teaspoon orange peel; mix well. Cover and refrigerate at least 30 minutes (can be made up to 1 day in advance).
  3. To serve, spoon berries into individual dessert bowls or (if desired) on cake slices on individual dessert plates. Top with sour cream topping, and serve.
